What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Esthetician — Medical Aesthetics and Skin Health position at Thrive Wellness + Aesthetics?
About Thrive
Thrive Wellness Aesthetics is a physician-led integrative medical and aesthetics practice located in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood.
We combine personalized skin health services with strong clinical standards, thoughtful client education, and a calm, elevated experience. Our practice is growing, and we are looking for a licensed esthetician who wants to contribute meaningfully, develop long-term client relationships, and grow with one organization.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who values quality over volume, takes ownership of their work, and performs well within a professional, protocol-driven environment.
The Opportunity
As a Licensed Esthetician at Thrive, you will provide customized skincare services while helping clients understand their skin, follow appropriate treatment plans, and achieve sustainable results.
You will work closely with our physician and operations team to deliver a consistent client experience, support retention, and maintain high standards for treatment safety, documentation, and room readiness.
Laser or energy-based device experience is not required. Qualified team members may have opportunities to pursue additional training as the practice expands.
What You'll Do
- Perform customized facials, chemical peels, advanced skincare treatments, and body skincare services within your lawful scope
- Conduct skin consultations and recommend appropriate treatment plans
- Educate clients about skin health, home care, treatment expectations, and maintenance
- Recommend professional skincare products based on client needs—not pressure
- Deliver a warm, polished, and highly professional client experience
- Complete accurate and timely electronic documentation
- Screen for contraindications and follow all consent, photography, and safety requirements
- Prepare, sanitize, restock, and maintain treatment rooms
- Monitor skincare products and treatment supplies
- Support appropriate rebooking, follow-up, and long-term client retention
- Collaborate with the physician, operations team, and front desk
- Use slower periods productively to support clients, the team, and practice operations
- Participate in training, team meetings, events, and practice-development initiatives
- Follow all infection-control standards, written protocols, and scope-of-practice requirements
What We're Looking For
- Active Illinois esthetician license in good standing
- Warm, friendly, and emotionally intelligent communication
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and follow-through
- Strong attention to detail and client safety
- Professional appearance and conduct
- Ability to receive feedback and implement it consistently
- Comfort following structured protocols and physician oversight
- Initiative and willingness to assist where needed within the role
- Confidence educating clients without high-pressure sales tactics
- Interest in contributing to a growing practice over the long term
- Availability for some evening and Saturday hours
Preferred Experience
- At least one year of hands-on esthetics experience
- Experience in medical aesthetics, dermatology, a physician-led practice, or an elevated skincare environment
- Experience performing customized facials and chemical peels
- Experience treating diverse skin types, tones, and concerns
- Knowledge of professional skincare and home-care planning
- Strong client rebooking and retention performance
- Experience with electronic health records or practice-management systems
- Interest in advanced skincare, body-contouring, or device-based technologies
- Medical aesthetics experience is preferred but not required. We value sound judgment, professionalism, coachability, and consistent execution as much as prior job titles.
Compensation Growth
- $24–$28 per hour, based on experience, demonstrated skills, and qualifications
- Paid onboarding and required job-specific training
- Structured competency assessments and ongoing feedback
- Professional-development and continuing-education support
- Employee service and retail benefits
- Paid time off for eligible employees
- Potential training in advanced technologies
- Opportunity for increased hours and responsibilities based on performance and business demand
Who Will Succeed at Thrive
You are likely to succeed here if you:
- Take initiative without needing constant direction
- Notice details and follow through
- Remain calm and professional when challenges arise
- Accept accountability and learn from feedback
- Care about both the client experience and what happens behind the scenes
- Respect protocols while using sound judgment
- Want to help build something—not simply fill appointment hours
