Private Family Hiring an Early Elementary Homeschool Teacher
Location: Lumberton, TX
Schedule: 2–3 mornings per week, 6–8 hours per week. This role will grow into a more full-time position as the younger children in the family join instruction and as the students progress academically.
Compensation: Salary offer, based on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Commitment: 1–2 years (with opportunity to continue beyond the initial agreement)
Thrive Tutoring is seeking a warm, experienced, and engaging elementary educator to provide homeschool instruction for a preschooler and kindergartener in a private family setting. This family values a well-rounded, hands-on, and structured approach to early education with a focus on curiosity, exploration, and developing a lifelong love of learning.
One of the first goals for this position will be supporting the oldest child (turning 5 in June) in learning to read through phonics-based, multi-sensory, and play-based instruction. The ideal candidate will foster creativity and critical thinking while incorporating an active lifestyle, outdoor learning, and problem-solving opportunities into each day.
The family views their teacher as an extension of their family and deeply values open, ongoing communication. They’re seeking someone who will provide consistent feedback, helping them understand their children’s progress and growth.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans tailored to each child’s needs and interests
- Utilize multi-sensory, play-based, and hands-on learning strategies to support early literacy (including phonics and foundational reading skills) and numeracy
- Foster a nurturing, structured, and creative learning environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and problem-solving
- Incorporate movement, outdoor exploration, and experiential learning to promote a healthy, active lifestyle
- Communicate regularly with parents, offering insight and feedback to help them understand each child’s learning progress and next steps
- Prepare materials, track progress, and provide regular updates to parents
Qualifications:
- Experienced educator with a background in early childhood or elementary education
- 3 years of teaching experience with early elementary students
- Familiarity with developmentally appropriate learning methods, including phonics-based reading instruction and hands-on math strategies
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate closely with parents
