Duties
- Prepare and review medical claims using billing software, ensuring accuracy in coding and documentation.
- Utilize ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding standards to classify diagnoses and procedures correctly.
- Submit claims electronically through EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, tracking their status throughout the process.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed records of medical billing activities, including medical records, medical coding, and collection efforts.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to verify patient information, insurance coverage, and medical documentation requirements.
- Stay current with healthcare claims management regulations, health insurance policies, and updates in medical terminology to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of healthcare claims management processes.
- Familiarity with medical coding systems such as ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and ICD coding standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and billing software platforms used in healthcare settings.
