➡️ This is NOT a driving or delivery role like rideshare or gig work - it's a professional support position where you'll be trained to work one-on-one with adults with developmental disabilities, helping them learn key life skills.
About the Role:
Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructors work one-on-one with people with developmental disabilities to empower your clients to reach their personal goals of independence and community participation. You would teach independent living skills in a motivating, personalized, and professional environment.
As an Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor, you will:
Support adults with developmental disabilities in achieving personal independence.
Teach practical skills such as budgeting, basic cooking, transportation, and more.
- Money management Medical, dental, and medication management Basic cooking and meal preparation Utilizing public transportation Locating affordable housing Obtaining and maintaining benefits such as Social Security, Medi-Cal, Medicare, etc. Community involvement and socialization goals Household maintenance
Drive to meet clients in their homes and community (you'll be reimbursed for mileage).
You will typically work with 3-6 clients per week in Alameda and possibly Contra Costa Counties.

Comfortable driving to client locations (mileage reimbursed)
