Speech Language Pathologist
Job Description
This position is based in the Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Department with a primary focus on providing general Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) evaluations and treatments for both adult and pediatric patients. The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Services are to be provided in compliance with professional standards and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assessments and perform evaluations to identify therapy diagnoses.
- Formulate and implement individualized therapy treatment plans with specific goals.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members, including physicians and rehabilitation professionals, to assure comprehensive patient care.
- Document encounters, findings, treatments, and recommendations in the appropriate format according to established policies.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and self-care strategies to promote independence.
- Conduct patient education and therapy programs based on the needs of patients and their families.
- Participate in community health services programs and collaborative efforts to enhance community outreach.
- Assist in administrative matters, clinic operations, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide summary results and statistics as required for management reporting.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical spaces.
Working Environment
The role may involve working in various settings, including outpatient rehabilitation, community events, and home visits. The Speech Language Pathologist may also need to travel to remote areas under varying conditions, including inclement weather.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required.
- Licensed by the State of Alaska in the field of Speech Language Pathology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Pediatric and outpatient experience is necessary.
