Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in supporting veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the clinic. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
- Safely restrain animals for examinations and treatments
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness throughout the hospital
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal)
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian
- Monitor hospitalized patients and report any changes to the medical team
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Support client communication and provide basic education on pet care
- Assist with radiology, surgery prep, and anesthesia monitoring (if trained)
- Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed
- Minimum of [1–2] years of veterinary assistant experience preferred
- Knowledge of animal handling and restraint techniques
- Familiarity with basic veterinary procedures and terminology
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and handle physically demanding tasks
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Experience with digital radiography and laboratory equipment
- Knowledge of veterinary practice management software
- Fear Free Certification or willingness to obtain
