Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Schedule patient appointments accurately, coordinate follow-up visits, and manage clinic calendars with proficiency in medical scheduling software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and explain health insurance policies to patients in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collect and process payments, handle medical billing and collections efficiently while maintaining detailed documentation review for accuracy
- Manage patient records by updating electronic health records (EHR), ensuring confidentiality and adherence to clinical confidentiality policies
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, provide excellent customer service, and direct calls appropriately
- Assist with administrative support tasks including filing medical records, managing office supplies, and maintaining organized documentation in compliance with health information management standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with hospital or dental clinics is a plus
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing procedures
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and medical office management software
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and data entry tasks
- Strong communication skills including phone etiquette and the ability to provide clear instructions to patients and team members
