ICU Registered Nurse – Days
Location: Bakersfield, CA
Weekly Pay: $3,311/week
Shift: Day Shift (7a–7p)
Start: 2026 JAN - Mid
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years ICU experience
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse for a premier hospital in Bakersfield, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled RN to join a collaborative, well-supported critical care team. Candidates must be confident in managing complex, high-acuity patients and demonstrate strong clinical judgment in a fast-paced environment.
Unit Details
- Unit: ICU
- Beds: 20
- Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
- EMR: Cerner
- Telemetry: Philips
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- Charge Structure: Nurse Shift Manager or Charge RN each shift; resource nurse when available
- Nurse Aides: None assigned to unit
Support Services
- RT: In-unit 24/7 (RT manages vents; RN troubleshoots)
- IV Team: Dedicated PICC/Midline team
- Pharmacy: 24/7 coverage
- Hospitalist/Intensivist: On-call 24/7; working toward full 24/7 in-house coverage
Scheduling & Requirements
- Weekends: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Holidays: One major two minors around Christmas (eves count as minor)
- Call: Possible if staffing decreases
- Floating: ER, Tele, Med-Surg; may float to sister facility (Mercy SW). Mid-shift floating is rare.
- Orientation: Minimum of 2 unit shifts 1 Cerner shift
- Experience: Nights require 2 years ICU experience at both campuses (day shift must have 2 years minimum as well)

- Neuro
- Radical cancer surgeries
- DaVinci surgical cases
- Abdominal & urology cases
- CVA / TPA
- Respiratory failure
- Sepsis
- Glycemic control
- Oncology
- Rotaprone therapy
- Some vascular surgery
- Note: Facility is not a cardiac intervention center; true cardiac intervention cases are transferred. No pediatrics.
