The Safety, Health, & Security Supervisor is responsible for leading site-level safety, health, workers’ compensation, and security programs to support safe, reliable, and compliant food manufacturing operations. This role integrates safety into daily production activities, partners closely with operations and support functions, and drives a proactive safety culture through engagement, training, coaching, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Safety & Health Leadership
• Manage the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of site safety and health policies, programs, and standard operating procedures.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, QA, HR, and leadership teams to integrate safety into daily workflows and decision-making.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, daily floor engagement, and reinforcement of safe behaviors and ergonomic best practices.
• Oversee development and review of job hazard analyses (JHAs), safe work procedures, LOTO procedures, and other safety documentation.
• Conduct routine inspections, audits, and walkthroughs; identify hazards; recommend corrective actions; and track completion.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Cal/OSHA requirements, and company standards.
Incident Management & Workers’ Compensation
• Lead and support all incident investigations: gather facts, determine root causes, recommend corrective actions, and ensure documentation accuracy and that corrective actions are completed.
• Manage incident tracking and analysis within safety data systems; ensure timely data entry, follow-up, and regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate post-incident communication and case management for workers’ compensation claims, including communication, medical services, administrative assistant, and with the TPA.
• Support HR with ADA, return-to-work discussions and assessments.
Training & Employee Engagement
• Deliver and/or coordinate required safety and health training, including new-hire orientation, annual refresher courses, and department-specific safety instruction.
• Coach supervisors, leads, and employees on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and effective safety conversations.
• Promote and manage the safety observation programs and other engagement activities that strengthen the overall success of an effective safety culture.
Security Operations
• Oversee site security operations, ensuring physical security measures—including access control, surveillance technology, and contracted security services—are effective and properly maintained.
• Respond to security-related issues and support investigations in collaboration with HR and local leadership.
Data, Systems & Reporting
• Maintain accurate safety and security documentation, records, metrics, and dashboards.
• Perform data audits across safety, workers’ compensation, and risk management systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data integrity.
• Utilize Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel) for data analysis, reporting, and trend identification.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, or a related field, preferred or professional safety certifications ASP, CSS, OSHM, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of safety/health experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, including experience leading safety programs and demonstrating measurable improvement.
• Minimum 1 year of California workers’ compensation experience working with a TPA.
• Experience communicating with regulatory agencies and third-party auditors.
• Experience supervising hourly employees.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations and practical manufacturing safety applications.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; able to engage employees respectfully and effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of identifying risks and driving effective solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (formulas, charts, pivot tables), Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to train, coach, and influence groups of employees in classroom and production-floor settings.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving needs.
• Occasional travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit 40% of the time, walk 40%, and stand 20%.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling (up to 30 lbs), stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and crawling.
• Must work in an environment with frequent temperature variations.
• Must have unrestricted visual and auditory abilities for employee and facility safety.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a food manufacturing environment with regular exposure to production equipment, forklifts, varying temperatures, noise, and other typical industrial conditions.
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
