Shift: Monday-Friday 9:00pm-6:00am
JOB SUMMARY: The Quality Supervisor is responsible for supporting compliance with company quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements. This position supervises quality department employees engaged in inspection, testing, audit, and documentation activities that support the consistent production of safe, quality products. The role works cross-functionally with operational and support teams to address quality issues, promote compliance, and support continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions/duty satisfactorily. Essential Functions:
- Supervise quality staff in assigned operational areas, which may include Freeze Dry, Packaging, Environmental Monitoring, Pest Control, and Receiving.
- Supervise, lead, support, or conduct internal, external, third-party, and co-pack audits as directed by Quality Management.
- Lead or support investigations related to quality events, including NCRs, CAPAs, and SCARs.
- Review and approve deviations within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Support mock recall and product trace activities.
- Oversee pest control programs, and environmental monitoring processes, as assigned.
- Maintain the Document Management system, including processing change requests, updating and writing SOP’s, work instructions, specifications, MMR’s etc.
- Provide training to quality staff and support training for other employees as directed by Quality Management.
- Communicate findings to management in a clear and concise manner, including out-of-specification results, nonconformances, SCARs, CAPAs, deviations, and trends within assigned areas.
- Support Operations in helping ensure products are produced safely and remain free from contamination.
- Provide backup support for Quality Technicians in assigned areas of responsibility, as needed.
- Review, trend, and report daily GMP inspections, pest control observations, and quality events, as assigned.
- Review internal documentation for compliance with applicable requirements.
- Complete weekly payroll entries and corrections and monitor hours, overtime, and area coverage.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with quality staff.
- Follow safety procedures and reinforce compliance with cGMP requirements.
- Assist in expediting items under the direction of Quality Management.
- Provide mentorship to Quality Technicians and other employees.
Additional Job Functions:

- Comply with all applicable SQF system requirements.
- Complete required job training within established timeframes.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- Comply with the Environmental Health Safety and Security (EHS&S) Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS&S rules and requirements.
- Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
- Attend scheduled EHS&S training program.
- Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EHS&S goals and plans.
- Recommend improved EHS&S practices.
- Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Adheres to and ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.

- Place high priority on food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing Thrive Freeze Dry’s food safety, quality, and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Hold self and others accountable to Thrive Freeze Dry food safety, quality, & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety or quality incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
- Adheres to and ensures Product Safety and Quality standards are followed.
- Adheres to and ensures GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee.
- Adheres to and ensures Thrives food safety, product defense standards and quality objectives complies with all SQF system requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required.) - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quality Control Technician III, Lead, or in a comparable role.
- PCQI certification, HACCP certification, SQF certification, or equivalent preferred.
- Working knowledge of sanitation practices and cGMP requirements in a food manufacturing environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand technical training and apply it to the essential functions of the position.
- Basic math skills required.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn new tasks and procedures.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Machines/Software Typically Operated
- Computer, Microsoft Office Suite, 10-key calculator, word processing and spreadsheet software, standard caliper, anemometer, ATP meter, hygrometer, temperature probe, O2 analyzer, aW meter, swabs, air sampler, and sampling plates.
Physical REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:
- The ability to lift 50 lbs. is required. This position frequently involves medium work, including exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
