What are the responsibilities and job description for the Private Teacher & Family Assistant position at Thrive Education Partners?
Role Overview
Private Teacher & Family Assistant
Gallatin, TN | Full-Time | $60,000–$68,000 /year (W2)
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with one middle school student and one family in a highly personalized, in-home environment. The right candidate will combine strong teaching skills with initiative, organization, and a genuine investment in a student's long-term growth.
This is a blended role combining academic support with hands-on, day-to-day support for a rising 7th grade student in an in-home setting. The family runs an organized, high-expectation home and values an educator who is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to execute consistently at a high level. The student is bright, personable, and enjoyable to work with — success in this role comes from building a genuine, trusted relationship with both the student and the family.
Student Profile
You'll be working with a rising 7th grader who benefits from individualized support, structure, and consistency. He is personable and engaging, and does best with an educator who balances accountability with encouragement. The primary academic focus is math and executive functioning skills — organization, planning, and study habits. He has some learning differences, including motor and visual challenges, and benefits from an educator who adapts instruction thoughtfully and steps in proactively.

• Occasional home support while the family is traveling (house sitting, maintaining routines)
What Makes Someone Successful
• Proactive and self-directed — you see what needs to be done and do it
• Highly detail-oriented and takes pride in doing things the right way
• Organized, reliable, and consistently professional (punctual, communicative, prepared)
• Personable, socially aware, and engaging — able to connect naturally with student and family
• Receptive to feedback and able to adapt quickly to family preferences
• Interested in a long-term role and growing with the family over time
