The Broker plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families in accessing health coverage that meets their needs. This position mirrors the heart of a Community Health Worker/Care Coordinator role—focused on education, advocacy, and connection—not sales. Thrive’s mission is to help people secure the coverage that best supports their health and financial well-being, not to generate revenue. The Broker will provide in-person assistance, enrollment support, and unbiased education related to Marketplace insurance, Medicaid/KanCare, Medicare, CHIP, and other safety-net programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide in-person, hands-on assistance with enrolling or re-enrolling individuals and small businesses in Marketplace insurance, Medicaid/KanCare, Medicare, and other relevant programs.
- Educate clients about available health insurance options in a fair, impartial, culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
- Assist clients with questions, grievances, or troubleshooting related to their coverage or eligibility decisions.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of available insurance products, program rules, and policy updates.
- Serve as a trusted guide, helping residents understand benefits, compare plans, and navigate complex systems.
- Maintain timely documentation, reporting, and data entry required by Thrive and funding sources.
- Identify and build partnerships with local organizations, agencies, and community sites for client outreach and referrals.
- Provide referral and follow-up services to ensure clients are connected to needed health and human services.
- Advocate for individual and community health by supporting residents in understanding and utilizing their coverage.
- Enhance residents’ ability to communicate effectively with healthcare providers and insurance representatives.
- Support health education efforts and provide guidance consistent with Thrive’s mission.
- Participate in community events, outreach activities, and enrollment drives.
- Maintain high ethical standards—prioritizing client needs over commission opportunities at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the Care Coordination team to strengthen community access to care.

Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED with 2 years of working experience required. Some college education with 1 year of working experience, preferred.
- Ability to use common office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and cloud-based software.
- Demonstrated commitment to assuring healthcare access to the medically underserved.
- Experience working with Marketplace insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare and other safety-net programs, preferable but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
- Independent and good team player.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Empathetic and has the ability to work with people of all social, economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner.
- Outgoing, friendly personality who enjoys working with the public.
