What You'll DoAs a Cook, you'll be responsible for preparing and serving meals while ensuring food quality, safety, and sanitation standards are consistently met.
Your responsibilities will include:Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and approved menus.
Ensure meals are served on time while maintaining excellent food quality, temperature, and presentation.
Follow special diet orders and modified meal requirements as directed.
Determine food and supply needs and assist with proper inventory usage to reduce waste.
Properly store, label, and rotate food in accordance with food safety guidelines.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area.
Complete required food temperature logs and other kitchen documentation.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance needs promptly.
Follow all sanitation, personal hygiene, infection control, and workplace safety standards.
Protect resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and facility privacy policies.
Participate in required staff training and maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
Work collaboratively with the Dietary team and other departments to support quality resident care.
Qualifications
EducationHigh school diploma or GED preferred.
ExperienceMinimum of one (1) year of experience in a restaurant, commercial kitchen, institutional food service, or fast-food environment.

RequirementsMust be at least 19 years of age in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia regulations for Children's Residential Facilities.
Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and pre-employment screening.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Working EnvironmentClean, well-lit, climate-controlled commercial kitchen.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying food products and kitchen supplies.
Exposure to commercial kitchen equipment, hot surfaces, and food preparation environments.
