HVAC Sheet Metal Estimator (Commercial Projects)
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HVAC Sheet Metal Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bid packages for commercial mechanical sheet metal projects ranging from $30,000 to $1.5 million. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare complete and accurate cost estimates and bid packages for commercial HVAC sheet metal projects
- Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to develop detailed take-offs
- Analyze blueprints and related documentation to determine labor, material, and time requirements
- Utilize estimating software and computer systems to perform quantity take-offs and pricing
- Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job walk-throughs, and scope review discussions
- Prepare scope letters, proposals, and supporting documentation for submitted bids
- Consult with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain strong relationships with general contractors, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Assist project managers with change orders, updated pricing, and additional take-offs as needed
- Ensure all estimating documents are accurately maintained and stored within company systems
- Communicate critical or sensitive issues to the Estimating Manager, providing recommendations for resolution
- Coordinate with internal departments, including Engineering, to support project success
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience performing accurate material take-offs and cost estimates for commercial projects
- Proficiency with computers and estimating software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple bids simultaneously
