Three Rivers Montessori is looking for a part-time Kitchen Assistant. We are a public tuition-free elementary school serving K-6th grade students from Elk River and the surrounding communities. Position Summary: Part-Time Kitchen Assistant
Reports To: Food Service Coordinator
Employment Type: Part-Time
Primary Purpose:
Support the school's lunch program by receiving and presenting catered meals, serving lunch to students and staff, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and readiness for daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set out catered lunch items in appropriate heating and cooling trays to maintain food safety and temperature standards
- Serve lunch to students and staff in a friendly, efficient manner
- Monitor and refill serving trays as needed during lunch service
- Clean and sanitize all food service areas, trays, utensils, and equipment immediately after lunch
- Clear and wash dishes
- Wipe down tables, counters, and serving surfaces
- Empty trash and recycling containers
- Prepare kitchen for next day's meal service (organize equipment, restock supplies, arrange serving stations)
- Follow all school food safety, sanitation, and health code protocols
- Communicate any supply needs or equipment issues to Food Service Coordinator
Physical Demands:
- Lifting up to 40 lbs regularly (supplies)
- Standing for extended periods
- Repetitive bending, reaching, and cleaning motions
- Exposure to heat sources and steam
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 1 year of experience in a similar position preferred
Job Type: Part-time
