Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify patient information, and assist with check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Schedule appointments accurately and manage the clinic’s calendar through medical scheduling software
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and explain billing procedures to patients
- Collect copayments and process payments utilizing medical collection procedures in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy in documentation review and medical records management
- Assist with intake processes, including updating demographic information
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent patient service and directing calls appropriately
- Support medical administrative functions such as faxing, data entry, and managing office supplies
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling sensitive health information securely
Experience
- Prior medical office experience is required
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is essential
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated customer service skills with professional phone etiquette
- Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare documentation review is preferred
- Ability to handle high-volume multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
