Intervention Specialist K-12 (Behavior Supports Unit)
Position Summary
Three Rivers Local School District is seeking a dynamic individual for an Intervention Specialist position for the 2026-2027 school year. Qualifications
Valid Ohio K-12 Intervention Specialist license
BCII and FBI background checks required
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Willingness to engage in ongoing professional learning
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Support
- Provide specially designed instruction aligned to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and support students with social-emotional regulation
- Develop structured classroom environments that support positive behavior and student engagement
- Knowledge of
- Trauma-informed practices
- Social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks
- Ability to build relationships with students exhibiting significant emotional/behavioral needs
- Differentiate instruction based on student needs and learning profiles
- Training in de-escalation and crisis prevention techniques
- Ability to safely respond to physical aggression, elopement, and crisis situations
- Physical capability to assist with student safety and behavioral interventions
- Use data to monitor student academic and behavioral progress
Compliance & Documentation
- Develop, write, and monitor IEPs in compliance with federal and state requirements
- Complete progress monitoring and required documentation
- Conduct or support evaluations, functional behavioral assessments (FBAs), and progress reporting
- Maintain accurate service logs and documentation
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support student success
- Provide direction and support to assigned paraprofessionals
- Ability to coach and model behavior strategies for staff
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of Ohio Operating Standards for educating students with disabilities
- Participate in team meetings and professional development
- Support district initiatives related to student success and positive school culture
- Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Experience working with students with behavioral needs
- Knowledge of PBIS, trauma-informed practices, and de-escalation strategies
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations
- Commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and actively supervise students throughout the day
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
- Ability to respond appropriately during behavioral crises
Occasional exposure to challenging student behaviors

Start date: August 1, 2026
Compensation: based upon education and experience per the master contract salary schedule
Full time position
184 day contract
