POSITION:     Special Education Teacher – Life Skills (K-2) 1.0 FTE

LOCATION:     Three Rivers Elementary

SALARY:         Based on the 2026-2027 Certificated Salary Schedule

NEW HIRES ARE CONDITIONAL UPON PASSING A FINGERPRINT SCREENING

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement
• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, supervise or assist with feeding, toileting, diaper changing, catheterization, etc.
• Experience or willingness to learn about working with students with Autism, Development Delays and other disabilities
• CPI trained or commitment to be trained
• Type II driver’s license or commitment to obtain if needed, must have valid driver’s license
• Committed to partnering with community agencies (DVR, DDA, etc.)
• Successful experience and/or ability successfully coordinate scheduling and supervision for multiple support sta? and team members at a variety of locations
• Successful experience and/or ability to develop and maintain positive partnerships with potential and current employers as position will focus heavy focus on post school outcomes, transition skills, and as appropriate school to work transition placements in the community
• Ability to effectively communicate with collaborative partners

The candidate must demonstrate commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the school’s guiding principles, vision, and mission. The candidate must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students. The candidate must be willing to participate in required trainings and professional development, implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences, work within a system that supports student interventions, and collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

• Previous successful classroom teaching experience
• Bilingual/Biliterate* in English/Spanish
• Experience working with adult students with developmental disabilities
• Training in the use of PECS and other augmentative communication devices
• Experience developing and implementing BIPs based on FBAs
