Job Description:
TRAM’s After School Program (ASP) is dedicated to providing enriching academic and extracurricular experiences for youth. We are seeking an enthusiastic After School Program Activity Assistant to help plan and deliver engaging activities, provide academic support, and contribute to the overall development of the students we serve.
As an Activity Assistant, you will work alongside a dynamic team to assist in the development and implementation of various educational and recreational activities, help with behavior management, and be a positive role model for students. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of youth, while gaining experience in a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and delivery of academic, enrichment, health, and recreational activities for students.
- Provide tutoring support in subjects like reading, writing, math, and more.
- Help students with behavior management, fostering positive interpersonal interactions, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment.
- Mentor students, guiding them through various learning and life experiences.
- Assist in the recruitment and enrollment of students in after-school programs.
- Collect and maintain data on student participation and progress for program evaluation.
- Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities.
- Travel locally and regionally as required to fulfill program needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the After School Program Director or Site Coordinator.
- Part Time Availability Monday-Friday 3:00 PM-6:00 PM
Qualifications:
- Two years of college-level coursework in recreation, psychology, health, or related fields preferred; or an associate’s degree or higher; or equivalent experience in K-12 programming.
- Previous experience working with children and/or youth in an academic or extracurricular setting.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to effectively engage and support students of diverse ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Must be willing to become certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to the role (e.g., helping with activities, light lifting, etc.).
