MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Promote and practice the Three Oaks Hospice philosophy and mission to listen, care, and serve.
• Pulls, packs, delivers, and picks up oxygen, supplies, and basic equipment.
• May instruct patients on basic use of respiratory therapy equipment, durable medical
equipment, oxygen equipment, and other equipment/services approved by state
licensure.
• Loads and unloads durable medical and infusion equipment onto delivery vehicles.
• Responds to emergency delivery calls as needed during regular business hours and
on an on-call basis.
• Completes necessary paperwork including daily delivery logs, pick-up and delivery
forms, and vehicle maintenance logs. Distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel.
• Maintains supply component of patient profiles.
• Notifies supervisor if any one of the following items is discovered in the patient’s home:
a) Physical abuse of any family member
b) Home environment is unsafe for the care ordered, such as unsanitary conditions or insufficient food for children
c) Animals in the home that may cause unsanitary conditions
• May clean and assist with the repair of equipment.
• Performs routine vehicle maintenance including checking gasoline, oil fluids, tire pressure, and brakes. Reports vehicle malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• One (1) year of related experience required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must have reliable transportation, proof of current automobile insurance, and a valid driver’s license.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE:
• Successful completion of driver training program.
• Three Oaks Hospice enforces all Department of Transportation and Federal Drug Administration regulations as they pertain to oxygen and durable medical equipment for the local branch.
• Will be required to wear various personal protective equipment consistent with the hazards encountered in this role.
• Will be required to use hand tools for assembly and repair, material handling equipment, cutting, carrying devices, cleanup kits, or equipment.
• May be required to work with cryogenic fluids requiring special precautions and personal protective equipment.
