Thorpe Landscapes of Wilmington is a full service landscape firm. We are seeking an experienced Hardscapes Foreman to lead our installation crews and deliver exceptional outdoor living spaces. Who Do We Work For & What Do We Do?
- Work with commercial developers and custom home builders across the region
- Perform site preparation, drainage installation, and complete landscape construction
- Install high-end hardscape and outdoor living projects, including:
- Retaining walls and boulder walls
- Patios, walkways, and driveways
- Outdoor kitchens and living spaces
- Artificial turf installations
- Perform erosion control and stream restoration projects
- Support commercial property landscape improvements
Equipment We Operate
Our crews operate a wide range of equipment including:
- Hitachi excavators (85U & 50U)
- Bobcat skid steers (T590 & T64)
- MT100 mini skid steers
- Various heavy equipment attachments
- Plate compactors, saws, lasers, and grading tools
Hardscapes Foreman Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a hardscape installation crew to complete projects safely, on schedule, and to company quality standards
- Coordinate daily jobsite activities with the Account Manager
- Ensure crews arrive prepared with proper materials, equipment, and safety gear
- Oversee installation of retaining walls and block systems, paver patios and walkways, natural stone features, outdoor kitchens and living areas, drainage and grading components related to hardscape installations
- Read and interpret plans, layouts, and project specifications
- Operate and supervise the safe use of heavy equipment and jobsite tools
- Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and jobsite safety
- Ensure projects stay within budgeted labor hours and material usage
- Maintain clean, organized job sites and well-maintained equipment
Requirements
- Proven experience in hardscape installation and crew leadership
- Ability to read construction drawings and layout projects
- Strong knowledge of paver systems, retaining wall installation, grading, and drainage
- Comfortable operating excavators, skid steers, and compact equipment
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors year-round, including summer heat
- Valid driver’s license REQUIRED
