The Thorp Public Library Board is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and community-minded individual to serve as our next Library Director. Located in the heart of beautiful north-central Wisconsin, with convenient access to Eau Claire and Wausau, the Thorp Public Library serves the City of Thorp (population 1,700) and the surrounding communities of Clark County.
The Library Director reports to a seven-member Board of Trustees and is responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the library. This includes managing staff, overseeing the budget, developing and maintaining the library's collection, and ensuring the effective operation of the library building and services. The Director also works collaboratively with library staff, community organizations, and regional partners to develop and promote programs that enrich the community.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and effective leader with excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a strong commitment to customer service. Candidates must have completed at least two years of college coursework (54 credits), with at least half of those credits in the liberal arts, and be eligible to obtain Wisconsin Grade 3 Public Librarian Certification within the required timeframe. Customer service experience and proficiency with computers and technology are preferred.
