Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.

The Role

We have an opening for an entry-level mechanical engineer in our Fort Lauderdale office. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with senior engineers while contributing to a variety of projects. Your work may include fieldwork and occasional extended travel, providing hands-on experience across different environments. A solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles is essential, along with a strong eagerness to grow and expand your expertise. Excellent writing skills are important, as you’ll be expected to clearly and concisely communicate your findings to clients. This position emphasizes investigating, troubleshooting, and analyzing mechanical systems, while effectively conveying results and recommendations to support our clients’ needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Engineering team with field investigations, analysis, design, production of contract documents, and construction administration services.
  • Assist with damage assessment and cause and origin investigations related to insurance claims.
  • Perform required field surveys, calculations, design, and equipment selections.
  • Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications.
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
  • Interface and coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, clients, attorney, and other experts.
  • Assist with the organization and preparation of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Review and research applicable building codes.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • EIT certification a plus.
  • Interest in mechanical investigation/design of buildings and industrial systems, as well as interest in litigation support and insurance claims evaluations.
  • Proficient in both manual and software-assisted calculations.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit/Microstation a plus.
