The Role
We have an opportunity for a Geostructural Engineer Intern for our Forensics Practice.
Responsibilities
While project work can vary greatly from day to day, typical tasks may include the following:
- On-site inspections and investigations including surveying and documenting observations, photography, and sketching.
- Assist in preparing field notes.
- Assist the engineering team in preparing technical and investigative reports to support forensics findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
- Assist the engineering team in geotechnical analysis and repair rehabilitation design.
- Assist engineering team in structural analysis and repair rehabilitation design of concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and other structural systems.
- Research the historic background of diverse structures, technical issues, and applicable code requirements.
- Review and research applicable building codes, and other applicable industry standards.
- Organize field data to facilitate analysis and problem-solving.
- Assist the engineering team in the preparation of drawings and specifications related to structural repair, remediation efforts, and geotechnical analysis.
- Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in geotechnical, structural, or civil engineering.
- Excellent academic record.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CAD programs (i.e. AutoCAD).
- Ability and willingness to travel locally for field investigations.
- Familiarity with any of the following programs is a plus, but is not required: Revit, Bluebeam, and gINT.
- Familiarity with any of the following programs is a plus, but is not required: Revit, Bluebeam, and SAP2000.
