A day in the life of a Material Receiver at Thorne requires:
- Obtaining knowledge of the applicable provisions of the Inventory Warehouse Department’s Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Maintaining knowledge of updates to applicable Inventory Warehouse Department’s Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPS).
- Maintaining knowledge of the Inventory Warehouse Department policies and procedures and Thorne Research policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Consistent attention to detail, completing paperwork accurately, neatly, and fully.
- Becoming cross-trained in the Inventory Warehouse areas listed below. Employee willingly works in different areas as assigned.
- Receiving and verifying incoming raw materials, ensuring accepted materials are in adequate condition by observing containers, carton, bag and/or drum. Verifying materials are intact and not punctured, defaced or contaminated.
- Entering the received material into the computer system.
- Receiving and verifying packaging materials received to ensure they are correct and in usable condition.
- Placing raw material and packaging components in holding areas and ensuring proper paperwork is affixed and complete. Assists in the segregation of rejected material, returns to manufacturer and disposal of rejected raw materials.
- Controlling security in the receiving area by prohibiting unauthorized personnel from entering.
- Utilizing equipment (forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, etc.) in receiving area and ensuring safety is not compromised.
- Completing projects and responsibilities to a satisfactory end without supervision.
