Position: School Social Worker (Grant-funded position)
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Social Work
2. Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate
3. Valid Limited Master Social Worker License or valid Master Social Worker License
4. Knowledge of State of Michigan and Federal Rules and Regulations regarding Special Education and Section 504, including special education eligibility process/evaluations and Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning
5. Knowledge of seclusion and restraint procedures, emergency intervention plans and crisis de-escalation
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators
7. Understanding of MTSS and School-Wide Positive Behavior Support Teams
Job Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with staff in planning education intervention and behavior management.
2. Administer appropriate assessments (BASC, BERS, SEAR's, Connors, etc), interpret results, and provide implications and recommendations.
3. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices.
4. Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
5. Serve as a member of evaluation teams, child study, and other teams coordinating the support of educational planning and student success.
6. Ongoing communication and collaboration with families on student progress.
7. Knowledge of community resources and ability to serve as a liaison between school, parents, students, and outside resources.
8. Coordinates with and provides consultation in behavioral and social-emotional areas for general and special education staff and school administrators working with students.
9. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and district initiatives.
10. Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
