About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack), you will be hands-on in designing, building, and delivering innovative AI-powered solutions, driving technical strategy, and embedding within business units to help accelerate Thomson Reuters’ AI-first transformation.
Build & Design AI-Driven Systems
Define technical standards and best practices for rapid prototyping and solution discovery
Hands-on design and prototyping of complex, enterprise-scale AI-driven systems
Build engaging frontends using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS
Develop robust backends with Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, and cloud infrastructure, including API design, data modeling, and AI service integration
Provide Senior Technical Leadership
Contribute to technical design decisions across the stack, including architecture, API design, and integration patterns
Lead architecture decisions and translate high-level business requirements into scalable technical specifications
Mentor engineers on the team and support technical growth
Serve as a senior technical voice in cross-functional and executive discussions
Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration
Lead full-stack projects through prioritization, scoping, technical guidance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams
Embed directly with business units to develop domain expertise and stakeholder relationships
Partner with business leaders, SMEs, and product teams to co-create solutions and drive adoption
Document architectural decisions and solutions for long-term knowledge sharing
About You
You are a fit for the role if you have:
Core Engineering Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience (Master’s preferred)
8 years of hands-on software engineering experience across the full stack
Strong technical leadership experience as an IC driving major initiatives
Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Cloud & Infrastructure (Required)
Deep production experience with AWS or Azure
Experience designing, deploying, and operating cloud-native systems
Hands-on experience with:
Docker
Kubernetes
Terraform
CloudFormation
CI/CD pipelines
GitHub Actions / GitLab CI / Azure DevOps
AI & Machine Learning (Required)
Strong Python experience with practical AI system implementation
Hands-on exposure to:
LLMs
AI agents / agentic workflows
LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar orchestration frameworks
AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
Experience integrating AI models into production systems using APIs, data pipelines, and cloud-native architectures
Familiarity with vector databases and RAG patterns
Data & APIs (Required)
Experience designing REST APIs and/or GraphQL endpoints
Experience with:
SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, CosmosDB, etc.)
Strong understanding of data modeling and database optimization
Security & Best Practices
Understanding of authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, etc.)
Knowledge of secure API design, secrets management, and cloud security best practices

Advanced AI/ML Experience
4 years leveraging advanced AI/ML frameworks in production
Experience with:

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $70-80/hr USD.
