An Activities Assistant
Plans, leads, and assists with recreational, social, and therapeutic activities (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) for residents, fostering engagement and quality of life by setting up spaces, documenting participation, transporting residents, and maintaining activity areas, all while adhering to regulations and promoting resident independence and fun.
Key Responsibilities
- Activity Implementation: Lead and facilitate daily group and individual activities like games, crafts, music, exercise, and themed events.
- Resident Engagement: Encourage participation, assist residents to and from activities, and adapt programs for varied physical, cognitive, and emotional needs (including memory care).
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of attendance, resident responses, and progress as required by state and federal regulations.
- Planning & Logistics: Help plan monthly calendars, set up activity rooms, prepare simple snacks, and coordinate volunteers or special events.
- Environment & Support: Maintain clean and organized activity areas, assist with decorations, and help create a pleasant atmosphere.
- Communication: Report changes in resident behavior or needs to nursing staff and communicate schedules to residents and other departments.
