Thompson First Group is seeking Welders for contract-to-hire positions with a local client.
Candidates with previous production welding experience, welding certifications, or formal welding training are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities:
- Review blueprints and collaborate with lead personnel to determine job requirements.
- Gather materials and perform layouts according to specifications.
- Set up welding equipment and adjust machine settings as needed.
- Perform MIG welding on steel, aluminum, and other materials.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality standards are met.
- Repair defective welds and remove excess slag, flux, and spatter using grinders, brushes, buffers, and pads.
- Operate cutting torches and manual plasma cutting equipment when required.
- Prepare completed work for inspection and communicate with quality personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing routine housekeeping duties.
- Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing standards.
Qualifications:
- GED or equivalent education preferred.
- Minimum of one year of welding experience or formal welding training.
- Production welding experience or current welding certification preferred.
- Ability to obtain welding certification if not currently certified.
- Must successfully complete a welding test during the interview process.
- Ability to read blueprints and accurately use a tape measure.
- Experience operating welding equipment and related fabrication tools.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Willingness to follow standard operating procedures and work instructions
