Thompson First Group is currently seeking a qualified Garage Mechanic-c for a local client in Reading, PA.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose vehicles for mechanical concerns and safety issues.
- Maintain and repair all in-house vehicles in a safe and efficient manner including company vehicles, tractors, trailers, straight trucks, and box trucks, etc.)
- Evaluate and maintain all vehicles on a revolving schedule to above D.O.T. standards to assure safe operations.
- Complete all appropriate paperwork in a timely and legible manner.
- Maintain records and fleet repair logs.
- Are responsible to bring in your own basic tool set; Company allowances will be given to maintain proper and well-kept tools.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of computers and diagnostic equipment.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle problems.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable DOT standards and regulations
- Ability to reach, grab, twist and bend constantly.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. (not constant).
- Diesel Experience (Preferred)
- Knowledge of Electrical & Hydraulics (Preferred)
Qualifications
- Class A Mechanic and State Inspection License (Preferred but not required)
- Valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B - required)
- Ability to handle a physical workload
- Must pass DOT drug screening and DOT physical
