A Facilities Technician is responsible for meticulous record-keeping, maintaining and repairing buildings and equipment, and ensuring the facility functions optimally. This role involves tasks like routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and addressing issues with various systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs repair, adjustment, and maintenance of commercial building systems, including plumbing, heating and cooling equipment, electrical equipment, security systems, fire suppression systems, pumps, motors, and fans, replace belts, bearings, seals, and related mechanical parts.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical problems and to expedite repairs.
- Work from sketches, blueprints, and schematics.
- Identify and address facility issues promptly and efficiently by finding effective solutions.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Meticulous record keeping of inspections and maintenance actions utilizing SAP, Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Assist in preparing budgets, monitor spending, and suggest recommendations to reduce costs.
- Maintains records of all repair and maintenance activities, parts used, supplies needed, and related inventory items.
- Operates a variety of tools and power equipment in maintenance shop repair work; and operates arc, MIG, and acetylene welding equipment to make metal repairs.
- Performs regularly scheduled maintenance of building systems; changes filters and belts, lubricates parts, and patches and seals roofs.
- Performs carpentry tasks, which include repairing furniture, building cabinets, repairing doors, and performing minor remodeling.
- Assists in creating a positive and supportive work environment; enforces a safe workplace; establishes a culture of teamwork and communication.
- Make routine checks and inspections of equipment, and reports problems to supervisor.
- Trains subordinate staff in functional duties and skills as required by supervisor.
- Paints interior and exterior building surfaces, fixtures, and furniture.
- Repairs electrical appliances and light fixtures.
- Must be willing to work on assigned on-call weekends and evenings.
- Minimum 5 years of facilities maintenance.
- Trade school or comparable relevant experience.
- EPA Section 608 Certification. (Preferred)
- Effectively use Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to move up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
- Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
