Position Summary
The Earthmoving Sales Representative is responsible for maximizing the sale of new and used equipment and short- and long-term rentals to customers and prospective customers in an assigned territory. Individual sales objectives must be met while working with customers to manage their equipment and enhance their perception of Thompson Tractor Company. Entertaining customers during evening, weekend, and overnight events is required. The ability to communicate the value of purchasing premium equipment in a price sensitive market is necessary. The Sales Representative will demonstrate initiative, sense of urgency, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
Essential Responsibilities & Expectations
- Maximize new and used equipment sales
- Maximize short and long term rental agreements in assigned territory
- Assist in the sale of Customer Support Agreements and maintenance programs
- Maintain accurate customer data records
- Collect invoices
- Develop a complete knowledge of our product lines
- Monitor and report product performance and competitive activity
- Provide liaison support between customer, TTCO, and our vendors
- Establish and maintain personal working relationships with customers
- Negotiate mutually agreeable settlements on customer complaints
- Perform and provide detailed reports on machine inspections
- Analyze market for trade values

- High school diploma or the equivalent (GED) required.
- Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience
- Previous sales experience and a working knowledge of the heavy equipment industry is preferred.
- Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills required.
