Tire Delivery Driver
Thompson Tire & Retread is looking for a full-time Route Driver to join our Dubuque location. Individuals who prefer a more physical job and are deadline driven will thrive in this role. The focus of this position is to pick up and deliver tires to our customers. Up to 250-mile radius and back same day. This candidate will be expected to deliver tires in a safe and efficient manner. Drivers always have to maintain a clean driving record.
Primary Responsibilities
- Making deliveries as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Operating the vehicle in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
- Operate according to DOT rules and regulations.
- Operate a 3/4ton pickup with a trailer, includes backing trailer up.
- Loading and unloading tires and/or other materials before, after and during deliveries.
- Ensure material is properly secured and within regulated weight limits.
- Notify management of safety concerns and vehicle maintenance or repair issues.
- Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with customers and colleagues.
- Effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.
- Follow company and customer procedures for delivering materials, recordkeeping, and obtaining signatures.
- Assist with general responsibilities as workload necessitates.
Work Environment
The nature of this position is quite physical. In addition, many of the deliveries may weigh as much as 75 pounds.
Driving and working out in the elements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Insurable by company insurance policy (clean driving record of with no minor violations within the last 3 years or major violations within the last 5 years.
- Class C license minimum
- Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
Physical Requirements
- Physical demands of this job are classified as Medium: exerting 51 to 100 pounds of force or lifting seldom and/or exerting 36 to 50 pounds of force or lifting occasionally, and/or 10 to 35 pounds of force or lifting frequently to move objects.
