Reporting directly to the Vice President of Tax, you will play a vital role in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing tax compliance and provision work.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with fixed asset reconciliation.
- Conduct research on new tax jurisdictions (e.g., pass-through, franchise/excise, sales/use, and other specialty taxes).
- Support property disposition calculations and assess tax implications.
- Participate in tax busy season tasks: compile and review trial balances, prepare investor lists, coordinate with CPA firms, distribute Schedule K-1s, and manage signature collection and processing.
- Prepare tax workpapers for various entities including operating corporations, construction, and development companies.
- Assist in audit defense and manage inquiries from taxing authorities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
- Contribute to developing efficient tax strategies that minimize liabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 4–6 years of progressive tax experience; background in state and local taxes and real estate or construction industry preferred.
- 2 years in a public accounting firm.
- CPA license (or actively pursuing) strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with tax and ERP systems such as OneSource, CorpTax, or SAP.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound knowledge of:
- Tax compliance for Real Estate Partnerships and S-corporations
- State and local tax allocation and apportionment
- Partnership structures in real estate transactions
- MACRS/ADS depreciation methods for real estate assets
- Sales and use tax in construction and real estate
