Description
Assist in planning and implementing services in the adult department. Assists patrons in the use of library resources, facilities and equipment, and oversees the library’s makerspace.
Supervised by: Adult and Circulation Services Librarian. General supervision by the Library Director.
Skills and abilities
- Ability to evaluate situations and make appropriate decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive computer and internet skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Flexibility to meet the library's scheduling needs.
- Ability to learn the online circulation system.
- Knowledge of using a fax machine, photocopier, printer, scanner, laminator, Cricut, and 3D printer.
- Experience with online programs such as Gmail/Google Docs, Canva, and social media
- Willingness to learn new technology
- Help manage online presence and advertise library offerings and services.
- Ability to work with vendors and community partners for library and community events.
Examples of Duties
- Assist in creating and implementing library programs for adults.
- Assist in creating programming schedules.
- Operate The Lab (the library’s makerspace) and teach patrons how to use the resources there.
- Handling money and donated items.
- Help manage online presence and advertise library offerings and services.
- Assist patrons with public access catalog and online resources.
- Perform circulation tasks in accordance with established procedures.
- Other duties assigned by the director, as the need arises.
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree plus two years of related experience, library experience preferred.
