Overview:
The Mechanical Design Engineer Role at Thompson Pipe Group will work to design, develop, and improve new & existing equipment, machinery as well as provide general engineering support where needed throughout Thompson Pipe Group.

Essential Functions
- Design products such as Precast Forms, Facility Equipment, & Automation Improvements.
- Works with team to create accurate design sketches, layouts, & plans.
- Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary & detailed drawings of the product.
- Produces specifications for products & chooses raw materials & components to be used in production.
- Builds models & prototypes of the product & tests designs where needed.
- Study & Analyze test data against proven product with similar designs.
- Provide additional engineering / technical support where needed.
Requirements
- Analytical & problem-solving skills.
- Mechanical & technical skills.
- Proficient with CAD software. (SolidWorks & AutoCAD)
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail.
- Have a valid driver’s license
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Five years of related experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 40 pounds.
Travel
- Some travel may be expected with this position
- Have a valid driver’s license
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. OT will be required as needed.
