Duties
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, with skill and safety awareness
- Drive commercial trucks including dump trucks and other construction vehicles to transport materials and equipment across job sites
- Perform pre-operation inspections on all machinery to ensure optimal functioning and safety compliance
- Assist with site preparation, grading, excavation, paving, and other construction activities using appropriate equipment
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, maintenance needs, and transportation records
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a secure work environment
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy construction equipment including excavators (such as Caterpillar models), dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, horizontal drilling rigs, tankers, and paving machinery
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment safely on construction sites
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with experience driving dump trucks and other large vehicles
- Knowledge of construction site operations, safety standards, and equipment maintenance
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on machinery to identify issues promptly
- Familiarity with construction materials handling and transportation logistics
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors
