What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dock & Door Technician/Installer position at THOMPSON & JOHNSON EQUIPMENT CO INC?
1st shift M-F with OT available
Installing and repairing a range of loading dock equipment including dock levelers, vehicle restraints, dock shelters, bumpers, commercial overhead doors, trash compactors and cardboard balers.
Job duties include:
- Proficiently manage a variety of tasks including dismantling commercial overhead doors and equipment, installing new commercial overhead doors, operators, and various service categories related to doors, operators, dock levelers, and associated equipment.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to interpret and comprehend schematics.
- Proficient in vertical welding, operation of power tools, lifts, hoists, hydraulic jacks, and material handling equipment
- Apply knowledge to ensure accurate, efficient, and safe execution of maintenance and repair work, preventing harm to oneself and others, and minimizing equipment damage.
Qualification Standards Include:
- High School diploma or equivalent; Technical school graduate preferred. Welding experience is a plus!
- Hydraulics, Mechanical and Electrical aptitude essential
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license free of major infractions.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills: verbally and in writing
- Technology literate: use of computer and tablet
- Willingness to learn and attend training classes
- Must have the ability to perform strenuous and heavy work; exert force up to 100 pounds on occasion and frequently handle loads to 50 pounds. Must have the physical stamina to perform continuously with full body motion for climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, etc.
