Overview:
Cheyney University is seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our dynamic Dining Services team. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing and cooking delicious and nutritious meals for the college community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook diverse menu items following recipes.
- Manage a cooking station, ensuring timely ingredient preparation.
- Monitor food quality, adjust as needed, and maintain a clean workspace.
- Assist in inventory control, reporting shortages, and minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team, chefs, and dining staff for smooth operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a line cook or similar role.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to handle a high-volume setting.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
- Stand for entire shift.
- Lift up to 40 lbs regularly.
- Perform repetitive tasks (chopping, slicing, mixing).
- Use knives and kitchen tools safely.
- Bend, reach, and stoop frequently.
