We are seeking a skilled accounting professional to lead and strengthen our financial operations.
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager / Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate job costing, inventory tracking, receivables management, and timely month-end close. This is a hands-on position ideal for a candidate who enjoys working in an operational environment and partnering with leadership to support growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthly close process and prepare accurate financial statements
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll coordination
- Track revenue and pricing for caliche/aggregate sales (invoicing, collections, customer statements)
- Maintain general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and cash flow reporting
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for management
- Ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements (sales tax, property tax, etc.)
- Coordinate with external CPA firm for year-end and tax filings
- Improve processes and internal controls to support scalability
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of accounting experience (Controller or senior-level accounting preferred)
- Experience in construction, aggregates, trucking, industrial services, or job costing is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and reconciliations
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
