Thompson Engineering is seeking an experienced Driller to join our Louisiana office. This position requires regular travel to project sites. The ideal candidate will have hands-on drilling experience and a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate drilling equipment to obtain soil samples for geotechnical analysis.
- Conduct accurate visual inspections and log soil samples for reporting.
- Hold and guide drill rods during drilling operations.
- Load and unload drilling equipment from company vehicles.
- Safely drive company vehicles to and from job sites.
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members.
- Maintain consistent, on-time attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of experience in soil drilling.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Work outdoors up to 100% of scheduled hours in varying weather conditions.
- Stand for up to 8 hours per day and walk on uneven or unstable surfaces (concrete, dirt, gravel, etc.).
- Bend, stoop, climb, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Use hands to operate, assemble, and maintain tools and equipment.
- Communicate effectively in person and by phone/radio.
- Drive company vehicles safely.
- Ability to travel frequently, work flexible hours, and stay overnight as required.
