POSITION SUMMARY
Thompson Electrics is looking for an experienced Lead Electrician (Technician 2) to oversee industrial and commercial electrical projects in the field.
This position is responsible for directing crews, completing complex electrical installations, reading and interpreting electrical drawings, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to specifications.
As the on-site lead, you will be accountable for project execution, workmanship, quality, and crew productivity.

OBJECTIVESLeadership & Project Execution
- Lead electrical crews and delegate daily assignments
- Maintain productivity, proper pacing, and efficient job flow
- Train, mentor, and develop helpers and junior electricians
Advanced Conduit Installation
- Measure, cut, bend, and install EMT, rigid, IMC, and PVC conduit
- Install conduit systems along walls, ceilings, racks, and underground
- Complete complex conduit systems, including parallel runs and large-scale layouts
- Develop efficient conduit routing plans while maintaining code compliance
Wire & Cable Systems
- Oversee large feeder pulls and cable tray installations
- Direct and manage conductor routing in industrial environments
Terminations
Perform and oversee electrical terminations in:
- Switchgear
- MCCs (Motor Control Centers)
- Transformers
- Verify all torque specifications and manufacturer requirements are properly followed
Prints & Layout
- Read and understand blueprints and conduit layouts
- Interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and complete drawing sets
- Plan electrical layouts and make adjustments to accommodate real-world field conditions
Industrial Work
- Perform electrical work in plants, factories, and other complex industrial environments
- Coordinate work activities with other trades, including millwrights, pipefitters, and others
- Support shutdowns, turnarounds, and fast-paced installation projects

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 4–10 years of electrical experience
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead electrical jobs and crews
- Industrial and commercial electrical experience required
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- Willingness to submit to background checks and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with medium/high voltage systems
- Experience managing or leading large-scale electrical projects
