What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Trench Footing Operator (CDL-A) position at Thompson Concrete Foundations?
Job Summary: The Residential Trench Footing Operator will operate a Komatsu PC88 Excavator to dig accurate trenches for footings for new residential homes and other duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
❑ Upholds and promotes the Thompson Mission, Mission and Values
❑ Works with a team
❑ Operate a Komatsu PC88 Excavator to dig trenches according to residential project plans and
specifications
❑ Read and interpret blueprints and site layouts to ensure proper trench placement, depth, and width
❑ Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and equipment damage
❑ Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on equipment
❑ Collaborate with supervisors, crew members, and utility locators to ensure efficient and accurate trenching
❑ Maintain a clean and organized job site
❑ Performs routine maintenance
❑ Performs other related duties as assigned/needed up to and including all laborer duties
❑ Attends and participates in morning huddle
❑ Sets Safety example by following safety guidelines at all times and complies with proper safety procedures and PPE
Required Skills/Abilities:
❑ Proficient in a Komatsu PC88 (Thompson will train the right individual)
❑ Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions
❑ Ability to effectively communicate and problem solve
❑ Ability to remain flexible in job hours worked as specific assignments change
❑ Ability to read and interpret site plans and construction blueprints
❑ Strong understanding of job site safety practices (OSHA awareness a plus)
❑ Mechanical aptitude for basic troubleshooting and equipment upkeep
❑ Effective communication and teamwork skills
❑ Physically capable of working in outdoor conditions and performing labor-intensive tasks
Education and Experience:
❑ Valid CDL-A license (required)
❑ Valid DOT Physical
❑ Experience in residential excavation or construction preferred
❑ Equipment certifications (Thompson will train if necessary)
❑ CPR and First Aid (Thompson will train if necessary)
❑ 10-hour OSHA certification (Thompson will train if necessary)
Physical Requirements:
❑ Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
❑ Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
❑ Must be able to operate machinery for prolonged periods of time
❑ Must be able to operate equipment in a variety of environments including but not limited to concrete, dirt, fumes, and loud noise levels
❑ Must be able to work long hours and Saturdays when needed
Required Tool:
❑ High Vis shirt or Vest
❑ Utility knife
❑ Clothes with no large holes or cut offs for varying weather conditions
