Position Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring materials, components, and finished goods move efficiently throughout our manufacturing facility. This role supports production by receiving, storing, transporting, and issuing inventory while maintaining accuracy, organization, and safety.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a manufacturing environment where teamwork and accountability matter.
Key Responsibilities
Material Movement & Production Support
- Deliver raw materials, components, and supplies to production work centers.
- Move work-in-process (WIP) between departments to maintain production flow.
- Transport finished goods to inventory or shipping locations.
- Replenish production lines with required materials.
- Stage materials for upcoming production orders.
Receiving & Inventory
- Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against packing slips.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies.
- Accurately label and store inventory in designated locations.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
- Maintain accurate inventory transactions within the ERP system.
Warehouse Organization
- Keep warehouse and production storage areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices where applicable.
- Properly identify, label, and store materials.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
Shipping Support
- Assist with packaging and staging outbound shipments.
- Prepare materials for shipment to suppliers or customers.
- Help maintain shipping supplies and packaging inventory.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Help identify opportunities to improve material flow and warehouse efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous warehouse, manufacturing, shipping/receiving, or material handling experience preferred.
- Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.
- Experience using ERP or inventory management systems is preferred (NetSuite experience is a plus).
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
- Safely operate material handling equipment.
- Work in a manufacturing environment around machinery and moving equipment.
