Operations Crew Member

Department: Operations & Event Services Reports To: Events & Operations Department

Position Summary

The Operations Crew Member supports the setup, changeover, execution, and breakdown of arena events, ensuring facilities are prepared safely, efficiently, and according to event specifications. This role is responsible for physical event conversions including stage assembly, seating and furniture placement, drapery installation, dressing room preparation, equipment movement, and venue reconfiguration for concerts, sporting events, family shows, conventions, and other live entertainment events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

● Assist with event setup, breakdown, and changeovers throughout the arena.

● Build, assemble, and dismantle stages, risers, barricades, and related event infrastructure.

● Set up and remove arena floor seating areas for basketball, volleyball, and other related sporting events.

● Set up and remove tables, chairs, pipe and drape, curtains, crowd-control equipment, and other event furnishings.

● Prepare dressing rooms, hospitality areas, locker rooms, and backstage spaces according to event requirements.

● Move furniture, equipment, staging materials, and supplies throughout the facility.

● Operate manual and powered equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, scissor lifts, and utility vehicles (training/certification as required).

● Install and remove arena drapery, curtains, floor coverings, and other venue conversion elements.

● Assist with seating bowl conversions and arena floor preparations.

● Load, unload, and transport event-related materials and equipment.

● Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas, workspaces, and event areas.

● Follow event layouts, work orders, diagrams, and supervisor instructions to meet production schedules.

● Perform routine facility support tasks as assigned.

● Assist with housekeeping and general building operations when needed.

● Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or facility damage to supervisors.

Qualifications

● High school diploma or GED preferred.

● Previous experience in event operations, stagehand work, facility operations, construction, warehouse, or related fields preferred.

● Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

● Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding work.

● Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing event requirements.

● Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment preferred.

● Forklift, scissor lift, or aerial lift certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

● Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift for extended periods.

● Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally move heavier items with assistance or equipment.

● Ability to work at heights and in various indoor and outdoor environments.

● Ability to work overnight, early morning, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as event schedules require.

Work Environment

This position works in all areas of the arena, including event floors, seating areas, backstage spaces, loading docks, storage areas, and exterior grounds. Work schedules vary based on event activity and may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight changeovers.
