Schedule: Full Time | 40 hours per week | Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm | every 4th weekend
Department: Thome PACE | Jackson, MI
Travel Requirements: This role involves regular travel between Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale counties providing Home Based Care.
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role is an excellent entry-level opportunity to begin a career in healthcare. PCAs assist participants with daily living activities and healthcare needs, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of care settings.

We provide a comprehensive PCA training class to help you build the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in this rewarding field. Our next PCA class will be held on May 28th and 29th.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Hands-On Care – Assist with personal care like bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Support Mealtime– Help participants enjoy their meals and stay hydrated for good health.
- Maintain Comfort and Care – Provide and maintain physical and emotional comfort for participants in the day center and their homes.
- Support in their Home and in the Community - Support housekeeping tasks such as laundry, sweeping, and grocery shopping. Meet participants at appointments as needed.
- Provide Responsive Support – Respond with kindness and compassion.
- Monitor with Watchful Eyes – Report any changes in conditions to the leadership ASAP and provide accurate documentation.
- Demonstrate Respect & Professionalism – Maintain confidentiality while delivering top-notch care.
On-Call Responsibilities: Participate in after-hour on-call rotations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Must be willing and able to complete our PCA training program.
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- CPR Certified or willing to obtain.
- Prior experience with frail or elderly individuals, aiding with daily living activities, and offering compassionate care, preferred.
- The ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
- A heart for helping others and the physical ability to lift, stand, bend, transfer, stretch, walk, push, and pull as needed.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds frequently is required
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
