Office Manager

Job Description

Overview: The Office Manager position is a 10-20 hour per week position. The hours will be 9:00 AM – 5:00PM. The role requires two days a week minimum, with occasional weekends (notification will be provided well in advance) required for Tourism events.

Summary: The role of the Office Manager is to work for the Director of Tourism, and the Tourism Commission Board of Directors in support of the Thomasville Tourism Commission’s mission. The Office Manager will have a consistent friendly and professional attitude as the first impression of the organization at the Visitors Center. Key duties include: having a positive and friendly attitude, management of daily operations of the Visitors Center including implementation and administration of the policies and procedures established by the Director, and Tourism Commission Board members. Assists in planning and executing Tourism events and activities, provides opportunities for local businesses and community members to network and promote their products and services, appropriately markets Thomasville across multiple social media platforms, and shares oversight of Visitors Center volunteers, and part time staff members with the Tourism Director. The Office Manager positively communicates the mission of Thomasville Tourism which is to build the community’s economy through the promotion of the Thomasville area as a visitor destination. The Office Manager must be able to wear multiple hats and conduct professional business interactions and duties independently and as part of a coordinated team. Basic experience with Excel preferred. Well organized, flexible and someone who enjoys the administrative challenges of supporting an office that holds an important, unique, and public facing position in the fabric of the City of Thomasville.

Duties: Coordinates all administration related to the Thomasville Tourism Visitors Center. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Answering phone calls and emails, addressing their needs in a timely manner
  • Greeting and assisting visitors in a friendly and professional manner, addressing their needs
  • Mailing marketing materials on a regular basis
  • Coordinating and negotiating pricing on supplies and projects with vendors
  • Assisting in promoting and securing new local partnerships, and cross promotional opportunities by actively seeking new businesses and community members
  • Compiling creative, and informative e-newsletters on a weekly basis
  • Managing the Tourism event calendar
  • Assisting in the coordination of the planning, scheduling, marketing, executing of all Tourism events and activities
  • Participating in community events to promote and enhance the positive image and relationship of the Tourism office throughout Thomasville and the surrounding areas
  • Maintaining clean and organized office appearance, office equipment, and inventory of office supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation: Compensation is around $15.00 per hour with apotential to increase based on regular reviews, proof of growth, and experience/expertise. 5 days of Personal Time off.
