Our client, an advanced SMR developer focused on next-generation nuclear reactor technology and medical isotope innovation, is seeking a Health Physicist Technician 2 to support day-to-day activities within its Radiation Safety Program.

Responsibilities
- Perform contamination and radiation exposure surveys
- Conduct routine laboratory and radiological inspections
- Deploy and collect airborne monitoring equipment and filters
- Provide operational radiation safety support to radiation workers and laboratory personnel
- Support daily laboratory operations and ensure radiological equipment and instrumentation are functional and available
- Review and complete Class 7 radioactive material shipments and perform receipt inspections
- Maintain and calibrate radiological instrumentation
- Support decontamination activities as required
- Communicate radiation protection requirements and radiological controls effectively
- Deliver radiation safety and instrumentation training
- Support ALARA implementation and radiological work controls
- Ensure proper radiological postings and labeling throughout facilities
- Assist with establishment of controls for new radiological use areas
- Support maintenance and updates of radiation safety procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years of Health Physics Technician experience, OR
- Associate degree in Radiation Protection, Radiological/Health Science, or related technical discipline, OR
- Navy ELT background with radiological survey experience
- Experience supporting radiological work activities in radiation and contamination areas preferred
- Experience using:
- GM meters
- Ion chambers
- Swipe counters
- Gamma counters
- Gamma spectroscopy systems
- Ability to wear PPE, respirators, and dosimetry equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities and schedules
- Military nuclear experience is considered a plus
