Duties
- Safely operate box trucks for over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in compliance with DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving in various environments
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures, logistics cargo handling, and freight management
- Ability to navigate the Motiv app.
- Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely; forklift certification is advantageous
- Understanding of DOT regulations and FMCSA standards.
- Strong driving skills with experience in over-the-road (OTR) routes and automobile transportation tasks
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate deliveries and ensure customer satisfaction
