Role Description
Manage and direct all activities of Environmental, Health and Safety. The primary duties include creating and implementing environmental and safety programs and policies, overseeing the organization’s environmental and safety performance, and ensuring the organization is complying with local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibility:
· Monitor environmental and safety developments and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
· Monitoring resource use to ensure it complies with waste management policies
· Facilitate Cross Functional Team (CFT) meetings for EHS ISO Programs
· Negotiate all air, water, hazardous waste, and other environmental permits with the appropriate government agencies.
· Promote a strong environmental and safety culture throughout the company and subcontractors maintaining TATA Steel’s core priorities: Safety, Environmental,
Quality, Production
· Ability to interpret and apply OSHA & EPA regulations
· Responsible for the completion of all EPA and Corporate environmentally related reports.
· Responsible for the completion of all OSHA and Corporate safety related reports.
· Coordinate in-house energy programs and prepare periodic reports.
· Provide technical expertise on the operation of in-plant environmental and safety equipment.
· Assist in facilities planning to ensure future environmental and safety compliance.
· Interface with outside legal counsel as required in the negotiation of environmental legal matters.
· Responsible for conducting daily safety contacts, weekly safety recaps and monthly Positive Safety Conversations. Participate in accident investigations as necessary. Write necessary job safety analysis as required.
· Responsible for the daily/weekly/monthly/annual inspections/rounds/security checks per EHS requirements
· Provide corporate liaison to auditing parties for EHS, Site security, insurance and energy programs.
· Order EHS specialized supplies.
· Set-up third party EHS required inspections.
· Conduct periodic review of Chemical Laboratory EPA worksheets and WTP Logbook for compliance.
· Facilitate monthly union/mgmt. safety meetings, per labor contract and monthly supervisor safety meetings.
· Conduct training or facilitate contracted training experts to meet all EPA and OSHA training requirements
· Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Qualifications:
*BS Degree in Environmental Health & Safety
*Previous work History in industrial facility
*Effective communication skills (Oral & Written).
*Good Interpersonal Skills
*Strong Organizational Skills
*PC Knowledgeable (Microsoft Office)
*Must be adaptable (able to handle a variety of functions).
